ZZKR is a survival craft designed to save in extreme weather conditions. It can be boarded by twelve to fifteen survivors through four entrance hatches and then dropped into the sea from the height of 35 m. After penetrating thewater sur-face, it dives to the depth of ca. 75 m (region of silence) and is automatically anchored. It may stay at that depth for 48 hours and then emerge to the surface. After releasing the ballast ZZKR the sur-vivors can be lifted from the sea by a helicopter and brought to safety.
The design utilizes several technical innovations such as: pressure hull, mushroom anchor with automatic regulation of tension in the anchor li-ne, automatic system of air scrubbing within the capsule. Within the contanment sphere there are: shock absorbing seats, fresh water tanks, food containers, sanitary arrangements, control and measurement equipment, electric batteries and air scrubbing system. Thermal insulation of the capsule makes survival possible even during severe winter condi-tions. The following communication and signalling equipment will be fixed on the external sheathing radar dish, signalling buoys and a radio antenna.
Communication with the outside world is ensu-red by an undewater hydroacoustic telephone and a hydroacoustic signal sender.
