Faculty of Ocean Engineering and Ship Technology is one out of the ten faculties of Technical University of Gdansk, history of which is long and complicated. The Technical University of Gdansk was founded in 1904 as the King's Technical University of Gdansk, which task was to develop and expand the education of technology in Gdansk and in all the provinces of Prussia and Pomerania. 246 students began their studies in the splendid buildings of the University designed by A.Carsten (later Professor of the University), within the following 6 Faculties of: Architecture; Civil Engineering; Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering; Chemistry, and General Sciences. After the First World War the University continued its activity as the Technical University of the Free City of Gdansk, providing academic education for 1650 students amongst whom one third were of Polish origin...
